DENVER, CO -- Molly Mirabelli totaled 17 kills with a .536 attack percentage, but the Denver volleyball team fell 3-2 (25-21, 19-25, 25-22, 28-30, 10-15) to the Omaha Mavericks Thursday at home at Hamilton Gymnasium.
The loss dropped Denver's record to 7-9 overall and 2-4 in Summit League play.
The Pioneers offense was paced by Cassie Davis, who finished with 18 kills on the day. Mirabelli added a career-high 17 and Jamia Johnson chipped in with 12 as part of balanced Denver attack. Defensively, had four players reach double figures in digs, highlighted by Alayna Finucan's 25, 10 from Briley Decker, and 10 more from Emersen Werger. From the front row, Mirabelli contributed eight blocks.

SET 2 | Denver then dropped the second set 25-19, evening things at a set each. Denver trailed by as many as six points as Omaha grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Mavericks took over the lead.
SET 3 | Denver put the second-set loss in the rearview mirror and grabbed a 2-1 match lead with a victory in set three. The Pioneers survived a back-and-forth set to win 25-22 in a stanza that featured four lead changes and was tied 10 times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than four points along the way.
SET 4 | Denver couldn't finish off a four-set win as the Mavericks forced a fifth set with a 30-28 victory. The Pioneers serving was on point in the set, as Denver notched six aces in a losing effort.
SET 5 | Denver and Omaha went back and forth all game, trading wins in the first three sets until the Mavericks took sets four and five, including winning the fifth set 15-10, and the match. The Pioneers had a lead early in the set at 1-0 before Omaha took over.
