Denver Men’s Golf Holds Three Shot Lead After Opening Round

The Pioneers shot a two-over 290 in the first round of The Grier Jones Shocker Invitational
NEWTON, Kan. – The University of Denver men's golf program has jumped out to a three-shot lead through 18 holes of the 2028 Grier Jones Shocker Invitational on Sunday.
The Pioneers ahead of three teams that shot five-over on Sunday, including the hosts Wichita State.
John Williams and Jack Dozer fired even-par 72s to sit in ninth through the opening round of the tournament. Jet Hernandez and Willis Panzarello both shot a one-over 73 to round out the counting scores for the Pioneers. The Denver duo sits in 13th.
Denver will tee off at 920 a.m. CT on Monday for round two of the tournament.
