NEWTON, Kan. – The University of Denver men's golf program has jumped out to a three-shot lead through 18 holes of the 2028 Grier Jones Shocker Invitational on Sunday.

The Pioneers ahead of three teams that shot five-over on Sunday, including the hosts Wichita State.

John Williams and Jack Dozer fired even-par 72s to sit in ninth through the opening round of the tournament. Jet Hernandez and Willis Panzarello both shot a one-over 73 to round out the counting scores for the Pioneers. The Denver duo sits in 13^th.

Denver will tee off at 920 a.m. CT on Monday for round two of the tournament.
