Denver Gymnastics Meet vs. Michigan to Be Televised on ESPN2

DU’s 2025 season opener on January 5 to be first-ever Denver home regular-season meet to be broadcast nationally

DENVER – The University of Denver gymnastics team's 2025 season opener against Michigan on Sunday, January 5, will be televised nationally on ESPN2, the Big 12 Conference and ESPN announced on Wednesday.

The meet's start time has also changed and is now scheduled for 3 p.m. MT in Magness Arena.

Tickets for the Michigan meet – and for the entire 2025 gymnastics season – can be purchased online at denverpioneers.com/tickets or by calling the Ritchie Center box office at 303-871-4625.

This will be the first time in Denver Gymnastics history that a regular-season home meet will be broadcast on a linear national network. The only time previously that DU has hosted a nationally-televised meet was the 2022 Big 12 Gymnastics Championship, which aired live on ESPNU.

Since 2020, two other DU regular-season meets have aired on either ESPN or ESPNU, but both came on the road at Oklahoma in 2020 and 2022.

Denver will have a second chance to appear on a linear ESPN network during the 2025 Big 12 Gymnastics Championship as well. For the first time, the Big 12 Championship will be split into two sessions airing on ESPN+ (Session I at 12 p.m. MT) and ESPNU (Session II at 5 p.m. MT).

This will mark the sixth consecutive time that the Big 12 Gymnastics Championship has been broadcast live on either ESPN2 or ESPNU – every year since debuting in 2019 and including when Denver won the title in 2021.

Denver is coming off a historic 2024 season in which DU finished the year ranked No. 10 in the country, achieving a final ranking inside the top 10 nationally in five of the last six years. DU advanced to NCAA Regionals for the 25th consecutive season and set multiple scoring and NQS records along the way. Last season, DU captured its first-ever road win at Michigan as well as the program's second- and third-ever wins against UCLA and second-ever against Stanford.

DU set new program records for season average (4,712) and total attendance (23,562) in 2024, continuing a nationwide trend in the growth of collegiate women's gymnastics.
