Pioneers Set for UCSD Tritons

DENVER - The University of Denver women's basketball team (1-3, 0-0 SL) will play UC San Diego (1-5, 0-0 Big South) on Sunday afternoon in Hamilton Gymnasium. Tip is set for 1 p.m. MT.

SERIES HISTORY
Sunday marks the program-first meeting between the Pioneers and the Tritons.

PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
•The Pioneers defeated Christian Brothers University, 78-48, on Friday, November 22nd at home in Hamilton Gymnasium
•Denver women's basketball will play a pair of home games against California opponents in UC San Diego and UC Irvine this week.
•The Pios will head back out on the road against Idaho State on December 4 for the first of two games of the Big Sky/Summit League Challenge

LONG BALL ELITE
• In offensive coordinator Lindsay Werntz' four seasons under head coach Doshia Woods, the Pioneers have played the analytics game, finishing top-30 nationally in both three-pointers attempted and triples made per game.
• In 2023-24, Denver finished 10th in threes attempted (821/27.4), 29th in threes made per game (8.2) and 207th in three-point field goal percentage (30.1).
• The Pioneers made double-digit triples on nine different occasions during the 2023-24 campaign, including a season-high 16 vs. Stetson (12/9) and Oral Roberts (2/3).

Back for a fourth season, the Denver women's basketball program will restart its Long Ball Elite fundraiser this campaign. Fans in a position to donate, consider pledging a dollar amount per 3-pointer made by the DU Pioneers this season. Join the Long Ball Elite campaign today. 

LEADERSHIP GROUP
• Head coach Doshia Woods named Emma Smith, Jordan Jones, Angelina Robles and Emily Counsel to the 2024-25 leadership team.

JONES NAMED TO PRESEASON FIRST TEAM
• Junior guard Jordan Jones was named to the Preseason All-Summit League First Team ahead of media day on October 8.
• Jones started all 30 games last season averaging 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game last season.
• The Wyoming native is the first preseason first-team all-league selection under Woods.
