Denver Set for First Road Trip of the Season Against Saint Mary's

The Pioneers will play the Gaels on Saturday afternoon in California.

DENVER - The University of Denver women's basketball team (0-1, 0-0 SL) is set for its first road trip of the season with a matchup against the Saint Mary's Gaels (0-1, 0-0 WCC) on Saturday. Tip is set for 2 p.m. MT in Moraga, California.

SERIES HISTORY: 
The Pioneers dropped the first matchup between the two teams, 56-61, on December 21, 2023 in Hamilton Gymnasium.

PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
•The Pioneers came up in their home opener, falling 66-73, to Colorado Christian on Monday night in Hmilton Gymnaisum.
•Denver women's basketball will travel to Moraga, California on Saturday for a game against Saint Mary's College.
•The Pios will go coast-to-coast with a trip to North Carolina for a program-first matchup against High Point University on November 17.

LONG BALL ELITE
• In offensive coordinator Lindsay Werntz' four seasons under head coach Doshia Woods, the Pioneers have played the analytics game, finishing top-30 nationally in both three-pointers attempted and triples made per game.
• In 2023-24, Denver finished 10th in threes attempted (821/27.4), 29th in threes made per game (8.2) and 207th in three-point field goal percentage (30.1).
• The Pioneers made double-digit triples on nine different occasions during the 2023-24 campaign, including a season-high 16 vs. Stetson (12/9) and Oral Roberts (2/3).

LEADERSHIP GROUP
• Head coach Doshia Woods named Emma SmithJordan JonesAngelina Robles and Emily Counsel to the 2024-25 leadership team.

JONES NAMED TO PRESEASON FIRST TEAM
• Junior guard Jordan Jones was named to the Preseason All-Summit League First Team ahead of media day on October 8.
• Jones started all 30 games last season averaging 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game last season.
• The Wyoming native is the first preseason first-team all-league selection under Woods.
