Denver Set to Play Texas State

The Pioneers will play the Bobcats on Sunday afternoon in Hamilton Gymnasium

DENVER - The University of Denver women's basketball team is set for a game against the Texas State Bobcats on Sunday afternoon in Hamilton Gymnasium. Tip is set for 1 p.m. MT.

SERIES HISTORY:
The Pioneers own a 3-1 record against the Bobcats. DU dropped the most recent matchup between the two teams, 72-46, last season in San Marcos, Texas.

PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
•The Pioneers defeated Northern Colorado, 64-53, on Friday night, extending their streak to five-straight home wins.
•Denver women's basketball continues its homestand with a game against former Sun Belt rival Texas State on Sunday afternoon.
•DU will conclude its four-game homestand against Western Colorado and Northern Alabama next week before breaking for the holidays.

LONG BALL ELITE
• In offensive coordinator Lindsay Werntz' four seasons under head coach Doshia Woods, the Pioneers have played the analytics game, finishing top-30 nationally in both three-pointers attempted and triples made per game.
• In 2023-24, Denver finished 10th in threes attempted (821/27.4), 29th in threes made per game (8.2) and 207th in three-point field goal percentage (30.1).
• The Pioneers made double-digit triples on nine different occasions during the 2023-24 campaign, including a season-high 16 vs. Stetson (12/9) and Oral Roberts (2/3).

LEADERSHIP GROUP
• Head coach Doshia Woods named Emma Smith, Jordan Jones, Angelina Robles and Emily Counsel to the 2024-25 leadership team.

JONES NAMED TO PRESEASON FIRST TEAM
• Junior guard Jordan Jones was named to the Preseason All-Summit League First Team ahead of media day on October 8.
• Jones started all 30 games last season averaging 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game last season.
• The Wyoming native is the first preseason first-team all-league selection under Woods.
