DENVER – University of Denver men's lacrosse graduate student faceoff specialist
Alec Stathakis was named the BIG EAST Specialist of the Week and junior attackman
Noah Manning was tabbed the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
In Monday's polls releases, Denver moved up a spot to fourth in the latest Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, while also moving up three spots to fourth in the USILA Coaches' Poll following the Pioneers 17-16 win over then [6/8] Cornell in-front of a sold out crowd at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
Manning finished with a career-high five goals and a career-high six points in the upset win over the Big Red. The Denver attackman scored five goals on seven shots, and six of those shots were on goal. Manning also picked up two ground balls.
Stathakis went 22-of-37 from the faceoff stripe, picking up eight ground balls. The Denver graduate student won the final 10 faceoffs in the top-10 win, including all eight taken in the fourth quarter. Stathakis won the specialist of the week award for the third-straight week.
