No. 38 DU Men’s Tennis to Host Montana, Wichita State

Denver opens March with matches at Denver Tennis Park on March 1-3

DENVER – The No. 38-ranked University of Denver men's tennis team (10-0, 0-0 Summit) begins the month of March with two home matches against Montana and Wichita State.

DU will look to extend its undefeated start to the 2024 season – and the best start in the program's Division I history – when it hosts Montana on Friday, March 1, at 5 p.m. MT and then Wichita State on Sunday, March 3, at 10:30 a.m. MT. Both matches will be held at Denver Tennis Park.

Last Time Out:
Denver moved to 10-0 on the season with road wins against Butler (7-0) and at Wisconsin (6-1). On February 24, the Pioneers earned their first 7-0 sweep of the year in a neutral-site match against Butler, dropping just four games in its completed doubles matches and adding four straight-sets wins in singles. The following day, DU again won the doubles point before winning four of five singles matches and adding a win in the sixth with a walkover.

Sophomore Raffaello Papajcik was named the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week for the first time in his career after winning each of his singles and doubles matches over the weekend.

Series History:
Montana: Denver is 5-0 all-time against Montana, though the teams have not played since a 5-2 win for Denver at home on March 4, 2007. All five of their previous meetings have been in Colorado with the last three happening in Denver.

Wichita State: DU holds a 4-9 record against Wichita State after a tight 4-3 loss on the road on February 12, 2023. The Shockers last made the trip to Denver on February 17, 2022, in a 6-1 win. Denver's most recent win came at home on February 12, 2021 (6-1).

Up Next:
The University of Denver men's tennis team heads to New Mexico for a single-match week on Sunday, March 10.
