DENVER – The University of Denver men's basketball program dropped its home finale 84-69 against Kansas City on Thursday night inside Hamilton Gymnasium.
Tommy Bruner added three assists and two steals to his 31 point-game to lead the Pioneers (15-15, 6-9). Pedro Lopez Sanvicente helped out with 15 points and Jaxon Brenchley chipped in with five points.
The Denver offense made hay from downtown, making nine threes on 27 attempts. Bruner hit four treys for the Pioneers in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After falling behind 27-21, Denver went on an 8-0 run with 5:54 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Josh Lee, to take a 29-27 lead. The Pioneers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 38-37.
UMKC kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 73-54 advantage before Denver went on a 5-0 run to shrink the deficit to 73-59 with 4:31 to go in the contest. UMKC responded and outscored the Pioneers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 84-69. Denver got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 11 of its 32 total points.
