Denver Takes a Trip Out West for UCSD Invitational

DENVER - The University of Denver mens golf team travels to San Diego for the UCSD Invitational this week.
The Pioneers- Jet Hernandez, Jack Dozer, Brady Arnett, Brayden Bozak, Matt Spaulding
The 18-school, 54-hole tournament is set for March 24-26 on Torrey Pines' North course. It's the first time that the event will run over three days instead of two.
The tourney's 18-school field is the largest since its inception in 2021. There will be four Big West squads in contention including UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, and UC Santa Barbara. Six schools are new to the lineup this year - Air Force, Denver, Fordham, Idaho, North Dakota State, and UNLV. UNLV is fielding only individuals and will not be competing in the team event.
Shotgun starts are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday and Monday. Tuesday's third and final round is slated for a 7 a.m. shotgun.
The UC San Diego Invitational was hosted by La Costa in Carlsbad, Calif., in 2021 and 2022 before moving to Torrey Pines in 2023.
In 2023, 15 schools and 82 players converged on the North course. Oklahoma Christian (-32), Seattle U (-30), and CSUN (-25), finished 1-2-3, CSUN's Eirik Thomassen was the individual medalist at 20-under par, six strokes better than his nearest competitor.
All three rounds at Torrey Pines can be followed with live scoring.
