No. 43 DU Men’s Tennis Closes Regular Season Against ORU, ISU

Denver seeking fifth-straight Summit League regular-season title with matches Friday, Saturday

DENVER – The No. 43-ranked University of Denver men's tennis team (19-0, 3-0 Summit) finishes the regular season with its final two Summit League matches on Friday and Saturday at Denver Tennis Park.

DU first hosts Oral Roberts on Friday, April 12, at 12 p.m. MT before welcoming Illinois State on Saturday, April 13, at 1:30 p.m. MT.

Denver can clinch at least a share of the Summit League regular-season title with a win on Friday and can win the title outright with wins in both matches. DU has won four-consecutive Summit League titles.

The Pioneers will also seek to become the first Division I men's team to enter its conference tournament undefeated since Virginia in 2013. It would also be the first time that a team at Denver – in any sport – has finished the regular season unbeaten since the DU men's soccer team in 2016.

Last Time Out:
Denver captured two Summit League road wins with a 5-2 win at rival Drake on April 5 before taking down Omaha, 6-1, on April 7. DU extended its doubles-point win streak to 12, helped by clinching performances from the No. 1 team led by senior Nicolas Herrero Cuesta on both days. After winning both of his No. 1 singles matches as well, Herrero Cuesta was named the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week for the fourth time this season.

Series History:
Oral Roberts: DU is 13-0 against Oral Roberts including back-to-back 7-0 sweeps in their last two meetings, most recently at ORU on April 7, 2023. The other sweep came the last time Oral Roberts played in Denver (April 1, 2022).

Illinois State: Denver holds a 7-2 record against Illinois State with all seven wins coming in the most recent seven matches. ISU's only wins came in 1999 and 2002. The teams most recently played at ISU on April 9, 2023, in a 6-1 win for DU. The Redbirds last played at DU on April 16, 2022, in a match Denver won, 5-2.

Up Next:
The University of Denver men's tennis team will await final Summit League standings after this weekend to determine if it has qualified for the 2024 Summit League Tennis Championships, set for April 19-20 in Waukee, Iowa.
