PREVIEW: [7/10] Denver Welcomes [6/6] Georgetown Saturday

The Pioneers and Hoyas clash on Alumni Weekend at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium

DENVER – The [7/10] University of Denver men's lacrosse program will host its second in a stretch of three of four at PBLS on Saturday when the Pioneers welcome [6/6] Georgetown to Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Opening faceoff on Altitude 2, Pioneer Vision and 104.3 the Fan HD3 is set for 12 p.m. MT.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
Denver holds an 8-7 edge in the Division I series between the two programs, but the Hoyas have won each of the last five and seven of the last nine Georgetown defeated Denver 13-6 in the regular season meeting and 14-5 in the BIG EAST Championship Game last season. Saturday marks the fifth match-up with both teams ranked inside the top-10.

Noah Manning and Mic Kelly earned hat tricks and Alec Stathakis won 18-of-27 attempts in the Pioneers 18-8 win over St. John's last Friday under the lights at PBLS. FULL RECAP
 
10-STRAIGHT WEEKS IN THE TOP-10
Earlier in the 2024 season, Denver rejoined the top-5 for the first time since 2021, the top-4 for the first time since 2018 and sat at the top pot nationally for the first time since 2017. After starting the campaign outside the top-10, Denver has spent the last 10 weeks inside the top-10.
 
RESET!
Denver has 18 goals off 38 resets in its first nine games of the 2024 season. The Pioneers have limited opponents to eight goals in 39 reset chances this year. In wins, the Pioneers are 15-of-33 on reset opportunities, while DU's opponents are only 3-of-28.

  • Denver had 15 assists on 18 goals in its win over St. John's on April 5, the second most in a game in the program's Division I history.
  • Both the DU record and the record at PBLS is 18 assists on 23 goals set against Providence on 2/27/21.

  • The 2024 Denver Pioneers have players from 20 different states.
  • Since turning Division I ahead of the 1999 season, the Pioneers have had players from 35 different states.

  • Last season's roster added three states to that list this season in Iowa (Provenza), Kansas (Eldred) and Utah (Caldwell).
  • The Pios have had 20+ from seven states: Colorado (100), Connecticut (32), California(27), New Jersey(26), Maryland(24), Ohio (22), New York (21).
  • Denver's DI student-athletes also cover three provinces of Canada: Alberta (2), B.C. (15) and Ontario (16).
