Anderson, Davis, King Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

Three DU hockey players are also finalists for Academic All-America awards

DENVER – The University of Denver hockey team had three players named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team.
 
Sophomore defenseman Kent Anderson, junior goaltender Matt Davis and junior forward Carter King and were all named to the CSC Academic All-District Team, which recognize the top student-athletes in the nation based on their combined athletic and academic performances.
 
The Pioneers' trio were among 15 players from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference to earn nods, and DU was one of three programs in the league with at least three players on the list along with Colorado College and Western Michigan (four).
 
Anderson posted career highs with three goals, five assists and eight points while playing in 41-of-44 games in 2023-24. The defenseman was recognized as the 2024 NCAA Elite 90 Award winner at this year's Frozen Four for having the highest cumulative grade-point average among all players at the championships, is a two-time national AHCA All-American Scholar, NCHC Academic All-Conference Team member and NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and was celebrated as this year's winner of Denver hockey's recipient of the Dr. Art Mason Top Scholar-Athlete award.
 
Davis was named the NCAA Frozen Four Most Outstanding Player after posting a shutout in the national championship game against Boston College on April 13. He finished the NCAA Tournament with a 0.63 goals-against average, .979 save percentage and one shutout in 283:32 of playing time. Davis, who went 23-5-3 during the regular season, has been named a national AHCA All-American Scholar, NCHC Academic All-Conference Team member and NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete three times each.
 
King had a career year with 15 goals and 19 assists for 34 points and tied for first in the NCAA with four short-handed goals, the fifth-most in a season in school history. He played in in 37-of-44 games during the 2023-24 campaign, with the seven that he missed due to an upper-body injury from Feb. 24-March 16. King is a three-time national AHCA All-American Scholar and has been named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team and an NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete four times.
 
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 90 percent of their team's games this season or started 66 percent of the games.
 
Each school was limited to six nominees for the Men's At-Large Academic All-District Team, which includes athletes from the NCAA men's sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
 
Anderson, Davis and King were also all selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will advance to the national ballot, with this year's men's At-Large First, Second and Third Teams set to be announced on Wednesday, July 17.
