SAINT PAUL, MN -- Jordan Jones tied her career-high 30 points, but the Denver women's basketball team fell to the St. Thomas Tommies, 78-65, on the road Saturday.
Jones led the Pioneers (8-13, 1-7) with 30 points and two steals. Emma Smith also tacked on three points, four assists and two steals and Angelina Robles chipped in as well with six points.
Coryn Watts pulled down two offensive rebounds to pace an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Denver, grabbing 12 boards and turning them into 11 second chance points.
Denver forced 16 St. Thomas turnovers while committing 13 themselves in Saturday's game. The Pioneers turned those takeaways into 18 points on the offensive end of the floor. Jones' two steals led the way for Denver.

Denver struggled out of the gate, falling behind 19-8 at the end of the first quarter.
The Pioneers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 36-23 halftime deficit.
St. Thomas continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 43-28 advantage before Denver went on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Brooke Murrell, to trim its deficit to 43-33 with 4:10 to go in the third. St. Thomas countered and stretched its lead to 53-38 heading into the fourth. Denver knocked down two three-pointers in the quarter to score six of its 15 total points.
St. Thomas kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 74-53 advantage before Denver went on an 8-0 run, finished off by Watts' layup, to shrink the deficit to 74-61 with 1:55 to go in the contest. The Pioneers were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, losing 78-65. Denver took advantage of five St. Thomas turnovers in the quarter, scoring eight points off of those takeaways.
