The Pioneers had a pair of tight duals with Wyoming at the Air Force quad this weekend

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs closed out the Air Force Quad on Saturday at Cadet Natatorium.

EVENT BY EVENT RECAP:
Saturday's action began with the platform dive. Kaitlin Calvery turned in a 196.55 on the tower to take third, while Tatum Brasfield earned a 179.95 to finish seventh. On the men's side, Trip Gregory finished third with a 285.55 and Colin Breuer earned fifth after a score of 266.70.

Denver's men opened Saturday's swimming action with a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay when the quartet of Quinn Collins, Kito Campbell, Hamish McLellan and Tommy Hancock combined for a time of 3:19.83.

In the second distance race of the weekend, Joseph Hancock earned the middle podium spot in the men's 1000 free, reaching the final wall in 9:36.97. Finn Holdredge took fourth for the Denver distance swimmers in a time of 9:45.36 and Max O'Neil grabbed eighth in 10:02.75.

Denver got in the win column for the first time on Saturday in the women's 200 IM. Samantha Synsvoll won the race by six-tenths, and Lilly Zippel finished fourth with a time of 2:09.75. On the men's side in the 200, Nico Morton grabbed fourth in 1:53.55 and Cota Clise got to the wall in sixth with a 1:54.73.

The Pioneer sprinters took the water for the second time in the weekend and Julia Saxman led the DU women with a sixth-place finish in 23.98. Denver's men were led the in the sprint by Hamish McLellan who touched up at 20.76.

Sabrina Rachjaibun got herself back on the podium with a third-place finish in the 200 fly with her time of 2:06.31. An event later, Ali Beay continued her fast swimming in the backstroke, taking second in a time of 56.69 in the 100.

Following his relay win earlier in the day, Collins took third in the 100 back in 51.27 and Liam Simmons grabbed the fifth spot in the race with a 51.95.

Campbell got on the podium in the 100 breast with his time of 55.19 to finish third in a tight heat.

After her win in the IM several events prior, Synsvoll took fourth to lead the Denver women in the 200 free on Saturday, clocking in at 1:53.63. Dylan Mes was second on Saturday in the 200 free with his time of 1:41.80.

This weekend's meet ended with the 200 free relay. Denver's women's quartet of Angie Wyand, Izzy Burton, Beay and Saxman combined for a time of 1:35.64 to finish in a tie with Air Force for second.

UP NEXT:
Denver's women will be back in action next weekend for a trip to Fort Collins for a tri-meet with Colorado State and Colorado Mesa. The meet is set for 2 p.m. MT.
