Denver Sweeps North Dakota on Senior Day

DENVER -- The University of Denver swept the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (25-22, 25-16, 25-23) on Saturday afternoon in Hamilton Gymnasium on Senior Day.

LEADERS
The Pioneers were firing on all cylinders with five players hitting .500 or better: Kate Perryman, Ava Reynolds, Jamia Johnson and Izabela Molina.
Reynolds led the way with 16 kills, Molina and Perryman each had nine and Johnson added eight.
Izzy Rawlings made 22 assists and Ilayda Eren tacked on 21.
Defensively, Maddie Winkler made nine digs and Perryman added two blocks.

NOTABLES
The Pioneers recorded the fifth best hitting percentage in a single match in program history, hitting .477 in the win.
Molina set a new program record for hitting percentage in a single match, hitting .900 with nine kills on 10 attempts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
An error-ridden set by the Pioneers kept it close throughout, despite Denver outhitting North Dakota, 20-13. Denver was able to piece together offensive momentum after falling behind 2-6 to start the match to tie it 13-13. Both teams traded kills back and forth throughout the middle of the match but a big swing by Molina put the set away for DU, 25-22.

SET 2
DU found its stride offensively to take an early 13-6 lead. The Pioneers capitalized on North Dakota mistakes and minimized their own to win the set 25-16.

SET 3
Denver jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before UND tied it up at 6-6. Both teams battled back and forth with UND holding a narrow lead. The Fighting Hawks extended their lead to 17-14, forcing a Pioneer timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the Pioneers tied it up at 18 and a huge back row attack by Reynolds gave DU the 20-19 lead. Denver held on despite a late rally by UND to earn the 25-23 set three victory.

The Pioneers will play their final home match of the season on November 13 against Oral Roberts.
