DENVER - The University of Denver volleyball team is set for a pair of Summit League road matches this week.
The Pioneers will face St. Thomas on Thursday night in Minnesota before traveling to Nebraska to take on Omaha on Saturday afternoon. DU is 7-2 all-time against St. Thomas but dropped the most recent matchup, three sets to one, earlier this season. The Pioneers are 19-10 all time against Omaha, and defeated the Mavericks, three sets to one, on Oct. 18 in Hamilton Gymnasium.
HITTING TWO HUNDRED
•The Pioneers have three attackers that have recorded 200 or more kills this season -
Ava Reynolds,
Genevieve Lewis and
Jamia Johnson.
•Johnson is the newest member of the 200 kills club, exceeding her 174 kill total from last season.
BALANCED ATTACK
•Denver has three players averaging 2.35 kills/set or more:
Ava Reynolds,
Genevieve Lewis and
Jamia Johnson.
•Reynolds, Lewis and Johnson have all surpassed their kill totals from the 2024 season
• Both
Kate Perryman and
Alicia Thibodeau have recorded 100+ kills this season.
• Perryman has exceeded 100 kills in a single season for the first time in her career.Â
• Freshman Thibodeau has made a strong start to her career with 136 kills and 1.97 kills/set.
REACHING THE SUMMIT
• Denver ranks in the top half in the Summit League in nine different statistical categories: opponent digs, opponent service aces, service aces, kills, opponent kills, assists, opponent assists, hitting percentage and opponent hitting percentage.
•The Pioneers lead the League in opponent digs (11.17 digs/set) and opponent service aces (1.16).
•Denver's 0.251 hitting percentage is good for second in the conference and the highest under third year head coach
Megan Pendergast.
MO IN THE MIDDLE
•
Izabela Molina broke the single game hitting percentage record, hitting .900 with 9 kills on 10 attempts on Nov. 1 vs. North Dakota.
• Molina ranks fourth in the conference with a .335 hitting percentage and averages 0.75 blocks/set.
THE PENDERGAST ERA
•The Pioneers earned their first SEC win in 17 years and first P4 win under Pendergast on 9/13/25 with a 3-2 win over Arkansas.
•Three Pios earned All-Summit League honors in 2024:
Cassie Davis,
Molly Mirabelli and All-Freshman selection
Jamia Johnson.
• In her first season at the helm, Pendergast led the Pioneers to a 12-4 record in conference play, earning a share of the Summit League regular season title, the first since 2020.
•DU was a perfect 9-0 in Hamilton Gymnasium, Denver's first perfect record at home since the 2015 season (18-0).
•
Megan Pendergast was named the eighth head coach of the DU Volleyball program on June 12, 2023.
• Spent eight seasons as an assistant coach with UCLA (3), Oklahoma (1) and Tulsa (4).
