Denver Travels to Lawrence for Matchup Against the Big 12's Kansas

DENVER -- The University of Denver women's basketball team travels to Lawrence, Kansas for its lone match-up against a Big 12 program of the season against the Jayhawks on Sunday afternoon in Allen Field House.

Denver is 1-2 all-time against Kansas, the most recent meeting being a 67-44 loss on Nov. 30, 2004 in Lawrence. 

PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
•The Pioneers defeated the Metro State Roadrunners on Tuesday afternoon, 92-68. Coryn Watts scored a career-best 30 points and Laila McLeod added a career-high 18 points.  
•DU travels to Lawrence, Kansas to take on the Jayhawks on December 14 in Allen Field House.
•Denver returns home against Colorado Christian on Wednesday, December 17.

UNIVERSITY OF DENVER ACCEPTS WCC INVITE FOR 2026-27
•On October 31, the University of Denver announced it has accepted an invitation to join the West Coast Conference in nine sports, beginning in the 2026-27 season.  
•Denver will join the West Coast Conference in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's tennis and women's volleyball.
•The move provides Denver with a significant enhancement to the overall reputation of the university and brand association, allying DU with highly regarded, mostly private institutions with stronger academic ranking and profiles that will further strengthen the university's position in the western United States. 

WALKING ON A MCLEOD
•After missing last season due to injury, Laila McLeod has appeared in nine games, averaging 13.9 minutes per game.
•She recorded a career-high 18 points, 7 field goals, 2 3FGs, and three assists in 25 minutes in the win over Metro State.

PICKING POCKETS
Coryn Watts leads the Summit League with 24 steals through the first ten contests. Laia Monclova comes in second with 23 steals.
•Her 2.40 steals per game are good for the best in the conference and 94th in the nation.
•The Pioneers average 8 steals per game, the fourth-best in the Summit League.

WORKIN' WITH WATTS
•Sophomore Guard Coryn Watts scored a career-high 30 points in the Dec. 9 win over Metro State.
•The Colorado native leads the team and the league and ranks 33rd in the nation with 34.81 minutes per game.
•Watts ranks 10th in the nation in field goal attempts and 15th in field goals and points, 22nd in points per game, 16th in three point attempts, 24th in three pointers and 41st in three pointers per game.

FRESH FACES ON THE BENCH
• In addition to the new faces on the roster, Woods added Janet Butler, Alex Frazier and Owen Adams to the coaching staff this offseason.
• Butler joins the staff after spending a season as an assistant coach at Fordham and four seasons on staff at Tulane.
•Frazier previously served as an assistant at Monmouth University, coaching the program's  first All-CAA First Team selection.
• Adams, a former student manager for Denver, returns to the DU staff after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Houston Christian.
