NEW YORK – University of Denver men's soccer redshirt-junior forward Kyle McGowan was selected 68th overall in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday afternoon.
McGowan became the 16th Denver Pioneer selected in the MLS SuperDraft in the program's history, and the third in the last two seasons.
The 2025 Summit League Offensive Player of the Year and 2025 Summit League All-Tournament Team selection played in all 22 matches for the Pioneers last season, starting 20 in Denver's attacking setup. McGowan scored 11 goals, good for 19th in the country, and added three assists for a career-high 25 points. The Portland, Oregon, native, netted a pair of braces in his junior campaign, scoring twice in a 2-0 win at Omaha on October 25 and scoring twice in the Summit League Final in Denver's 4-2 victory over Kansas City.
In addition to his two goals in the conference postseason, McGowan scored two more in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, netting the game-winner in the Pioneers NCAA First Round win over UC Irvine before netting a 77th minute equalizer at No. 8 Portland in the second round.
McGowan's 11 goals tied for the third-most in a single season in Denver's Division I history, and his 25 points were good for seventh in Denver's single-season record book. The Portland Timbers Academy product finished the campaign with seven goals in Denver's final seven matches.
