ASPEN/STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Two podium finishes by Denver Pioneers women's alpine skier
Mia Hunt put her on the iconic saddle as the overall women's slalom champion of the 2025 Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic.
The senior placed second in Friday night's slalom event at Howelsen Hill Ski Area in Steamboat Springs before earning the victory on Saturday morning in the second slalom to claim the overall crown of the discipline. Hunt's win marked the fifth straight year that a Pioneer has won an overall title in the Holiday Classic, with graduate student
Sara Rask picking up the honor the previous two years.
Nora Brand also took it home in 2022 and
Simon Fournier also reached the top of the saddle in 2021.
Due to snow conditions at Steamboat Resort, this year's alpine giant slalom races were moved to Aspen Highlands to accommodate the 25th annual event.
Hunt had a solid showing in those GS events as well, placing sixth in the first GS on Wednesday before coming in 15th in the second on Thursday. She climbed up the leaderboard in the night slalom in Steamboat, as she produced the fastest second run to move from seventh to the silver position.
Rask picked up top-five results in each of the three races she finished, placing third and second in the two giant slaloms in Aspen before coming in fourth in the night slalom.
Senior
Adrian Minde Hunshammer led the Pioneer men in Aspen by placing third and fourth in the pair of GS events. Senior
Christian Soevik also put together a strong performance last week with three top-10 results, placing fifth in the first giant slalom before coming in seventh in each slalom in Steamboat.
Women's alpine senior
Nicola Rountree-Williams came in fourth in the first GS on Wednesday and finished with top-10 finishes in each of the four races, tying for sixth in the second giant slalom before registering ninth-place results in each slalom events.
Several recent Denver skiing alumni also competed with
Storm Klomhaus and
Galena Wardle on the women's side and
