DENVER - The Pioneers scored seven goals in the final frame of play to defeat Vanderbilt, 17-8, in their home opener at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
Vanderbilt earned their final lead of the game at 8:15 off of goals by Jaime Biskup and Maddie Barkate to put the Dores up 2-1. The Pioneer offense was able to capitalize on mayhem in front of the goal, culminating in
Eva Thomsen-Marr's first collegiate goal to tie the game at two with just under three minutes remaining. Denver was able to tack on two more goals to end the first with a 4-2 lead.
Lauren Black Olivia Ripple started the scoring in the second frame before Vanderbilt responded with a pair of goals by Brooke Baker. Both teams connected one more time in the half but the Pioneers took a 7-6 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Caroline Bowers scored her first collegiate goal to open the third period, extending the Pioneer's lead to 8-6.
The Pioneers poured on the offense in the fourth quarter, scoring seven unanswered goals, including another career-first, this time for
Caroline Keil, to give Denver the 17-8 victory.
