Denver Men’s Tennis Returns Home for Two Matches

DU to host Utah State, Jacksonville State on February 21-23

DENVER – The University of Denver men's tennis team is back at Denver Tennis Park for two home matches on February 21-23 against Utah State and Jacksonville State.

DU first hosts Utah State on Friday, February 21, at 5 p.m. MT as part of a Denver Tennis doubleheader, following the DU women's match against Montana State earlier that afternoon. Denver will then play against Jacksonville State on Sunday, February 23, at 10:30 a.m. MT.

Admission is free for all home matches at Denver Tennis Park.

LAST TIME OUT:
Denver traveled to Wichita, Kansas, on February 15-16, dropping two competitive matches. DU opened the weekend with a neutral-site match against Boise State and narrowly lost to the Broncos, 3-4, after beginning a comeback from 0-2 down. The Pioneers then played host Wichita State the following day and came up short in a dual that was closer than the 2-5 final scoreline suggested.

DU has been without its No. 2 singles player in junior Raffaello Papajcik for two weeks and was also without singles and doubles mainstay, freshman Theo Coats for the start of last weekend. Coats was able to play in the WSU match, and Denver is hopeful to have Papajcik back in the lineup soon.

SERIES HISTORY:
Utah State: Denver owns a 7-1 record against Utah State and has won the last four matches against the Aggies. The teams have met in six of the last seven years including a tight 4-3 win for DU at Utah State in their most recent meeting on February 11, 2024. USU last played in Denver on February 17, 2023, in a third-straight 6-1 DU win.

Jacksonville State: This will be the first meeting between Denver and Jacksonville State.

Up Next:
The University of Denver men's tennis team travels to the state of Utah for two Power-4 matches, first visiting BYU on Friday, February 28, before playing at Utah on Sunday, March 2.
