DENVER – University of Denver gymnast
Rosie Casali was named the Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week, the Big 12 Conference announced on Tuesday.
The fifth-year senior hit the 9.900+ mark on both of her events competed in DU's meet at Utah on February 21, setting personal season highs on both while also helping the team hit its highest scores of the season as well.
Casali set the tone with DU's first routine of the competition, scoring a 9.900 on bars that was just .025 from her personal best and paved the way for Denver to finish with a 49.525 on the event – the single highest rotation score for DU on any event so far in 2025. She then backed up with a team-leading 9.925 on vault that tied her atop the final event standings and prevented a Utah sweep of the titles. Her vault also contributed to another season high for DU with its 49.350 on the event.
Both of Casali's scores counted toward Denver's final team total of 197.525, a new season's best by four tenths and becoming the seventh highest road score in program history.
This is the second Big 12 weekly award of Casali's career and her first Event Specialist nod. DU gymnasts have now captured the Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week honor in consecutive weeks and for three times total in 2025 after sophomore
Maddison Reidenbach did so in Week 7 and senior
Mia Hebinck in Week 1. Junior
Cecilia Cooley gives DU four combined Big 12 weekly honors this year after earning Big 12 Gymnast of the Week in Week 1.
No. 19-ranked Denver again competed on the road in Big 12 Conference competition when it travels to Iowa State on Friday, February 28, for a tri meet with No. 18 NC State.
