DENVER – The University of Denver men's tennis heads to the Pacific Northwest on February 7-8 for the first two of four consecutive matches on the road.
Denver will play at Oregon on Friday, February 7, at 5 p.m. PT/6 p.m. MT before taking on UTSA in a neutral-site match on Saturday, February 8, at 12 p.m. PT/1 p.m. MT.
LAST TIME OUT:
Denver won both of its matches at home from January 31 – February 2, sweeping Cal Poly, 7-0, on Friday and then adding a 5-2 over Northern Arizona on Sunday. The Pioneers won the doubles point on both days, and two DU singles players – senior
Daniel Sancho Arbizu and graduate student
Connor Robb-Wilcox – won both of their matches in straight sets. Freshman
Samuel Rovai also won each of his singles matches including in straight sets against Cal Poly.
The victory against Northern Arizona was Denver's 25
th in a row at home, dating back to February 17, 2023.
SERIES HISTORY:
Oregon: DU leads Oregon, 4-3, in the teams' head-to-head record, breaking the 3-3 tie with a 4-1 win on March 29, 2024, at home. Denver last played at Oregon on March 3, 2022, in what would be a 5-2 win for the Ducks, though DU had won the prior two meetings in Eugene leading up to it.
UTSA: Denver holds a 3-1 record against UTSA, most recently playing in Denver on February 4, 2024, in a 5-2 victory for the Pioneers. The two teams have never played in a neutral-site match and have only met once previously outside of Denver (March 22, 2023, at UTSA: 5-2 win for the Roadrunners).
