DENVER – The Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association and the University of Utah announced on Thursday the alpine races for this weekend's Utah Invitational will be delayed a day due to weather conditions and in the interest of putting on a fair and safe event.
 
The alpine races were supposed to begin on Friday with a giant slalom RMISA Alpine Qualifier event at Utah Olympic Park but will now start on Saturday. The Utah Invitational was set to start in full on Saturday but it will begin with its GS race before wrapping up with slalom on Monday.
 
All races begin at 9 a.m. MT and there is free admission on site at the UOP's Spencer F. Eccles Olympic Mountain Center.
 
Race officials and the teams will assess conditions again on Friday. Depending on that assessment, there is a slight chance the order of disciplines (giant slalom and slalom) may be adjusted. As of now, nothing has changed with the disciplines; GS is on Saturday and Sunday with slalom on Monday. Regardless of any changes that could happen with the disciplines, there will be some form of racing each day.

In Colorado, DU will host the Nordic races of the Denver Invitational, presented by Daehlie, this weekend at Maloit Park in Minturn. The event in the Vail Valley begins with the 7.5K classic interval start on Saturday and wraps up on Sunday with the 10K freestyle pursuit. Races begin each day at 10 a.m. MT and free parking is available at and around the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy.
