Denver Drops Matchup With Ohio State

The Pioneers open their home slate on Sunday afternoon against Vanderbilt at Peter Barton LS.
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The [15] University of Denver women's lacrosse team fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes, 9-5, on Sunday afternoon in Columbus.
Ohio State took a quick 2-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game. Sophomore attacker Olivia Ripple answered back off an assist by Lauren Black to cut the deficit in half. Lauren Black notched a goal of her own with 15 seconds left in the first quarter, but Denver ended the quarter down 3-2.
Caroline Colimore tied the game at three less than a minute into the second quarter, but the Pioneers were unable to overcome the Buckeyes. OSU scored three unanswered goals before Ripple capitalized on a free position opportunity, but the Pioneers took a 6-4 deficit into halftime.
Offensive woes continued for Denver, who were held scoreless until the five minute mark of the final frame. Colimore cashed in on a man-up opportunity, but the Pioneers fell to the Buckeyes, 9-5.
