No. 18 DU Gymnastics Ends Regular Season with 196.475 at No. 13 Stanford

Denver hits all 24 competitive routines, wins outright titles on bars, beam on Friday night

STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 18-ranked University of Denver women's gymnastics team closed out its 2025 regular season with its third highest road score of the year at No. 13 Stanford on Friday night.

DU finished second to the Cardinal, 196.475-197.175, but still posted a score to improve its penultimate NQS, which will be released on Monday.

SIGNIFICANT STATS
  • Graduate student Rylie Mundell hit her highest bars score of the season and just missed her career high with a 9.950 to win the title outright.
    • It was her fourth bars title of the year and brings her within two wins of Denver's top 10 for career titles won.
  • Graduate student Abbie Thompson also set a new season high and was only .025 from her career high on beam, scoring a 9.925 on beam for the night's highest score on the event.
  • For the third time at an away meet this season, Denver hit all 24 of its competitive routines.
  • DU ended with a strong beam rotation, posting a 49.225 that became the team's second highest away score and third highest overall score of the season.
  • On bars, beam and floor, DU did not count a score below 9.800.
BARS RECAP
Denver started the night with what would be its highest event score, a 49.250 on bars off five scores at or above the 9.800 mark and capped by the competition's highest score on any event: a 9.950 from Mundell in the anchor spot. Sophomore Madison Ulrich and junior Kiley Rorich had matching 9.825s in the Nos. 2 and 3 spot for DU's first two counted scores of the rotation before junior Cecilia Cooley gained a quarter tenth for a 9.850. DU's final counted scores came from senior Mia Hebinck with a 9.800.

VAULT RECAP
Ulrich led Denver's vault rotation for the first time this year, scoring a 9.800 for the team's top mark in the second rotation. Fifth-year senior Rosie Casali and sophomore Amanda Hargraves finished just off her pace with two 9.775s in Denver's final two vaults while junior Mila Brusch led off the line up with a 9.750. Graduate student Bella Mabanta added a 9.700 in what would be DU's fifth counted score of the rotation.

FLOOR RECAP
DU hit the reset button and found its energy again on floor in the third rotation, delivering its second highest away score of the year with a 49.200 off five scores at or above 9.800. Rorich led off with a solid 9.825 before Brusch rebounded from her last floor routine to score a 9.850. Cooley, too, would earn a 9.850 in what would be DU's second highest score of the rotation, behind only Mabanta's 9.875 in the No. 5 spot, her fifth straight score of 9.850 or higher on the event. Senior Momoko Iwai scored a 9.800 in the middle of the lineup in her third straight lineup appearance.

BEAM RECAP
Despite shuffling its lineup again, the beam team finished out the night on a high note with a strong beam rotation and a 49.225, DU's third highest score on the event this season. Cooley got back on track after a fall last week with a 9.825 in the leadoff once again, and Iwai followed with a 9.850. Sophomore Ashley Gallen returned to the lineup after a week away and again hit her routine for a 9.825 that was only .025 from her career best. Ulrich anchored the lineup with a 9.800 to give DU yet another 9.8+ score. The meet's highest beam score came from Thompson, who shifted to the No. 5 slot for the first time this season and earned a 9.925, matching the second highest beam score by a DU gymnast in 2025.

EXHIBITION NOTES
DU's final exhibition performances of the season came from familiar faces once again. Freshman Sophia Hampp returned to both the vault and beam exhibition slots, marking the second time that she has competed on both in the same meet this year. She earned a 9.600 on vault and a 9.025 on beam after a fall on her acro series. Sophomore Maddison Reidenbach competed in the bars exhibition for the eighth time in 11 meets and scored a 9.800, matching her highest exhibition score of the season. Gallen claimed the floor exhibition spot for the third straight meet and posted a 9.750.
