HANOVER, N.H. – The 2025 NCAA Championships continued on Thursday with the first day of Nordic racing as the cross-country athletes took to the Oak Hill Outdoor Center course for the 7.5-kilometer classic interval start.
Senior
Elijah Weenig led the Pioneers with a 12th-place finish while graduate student
Florian Knopf placed 15th and senior
Andreas Kirkeng came in 22nd in the men's race.
Grad student
Lea Wenaas led DU's women in 25th. Freshman
Eve-Ondine Duchaufour was 27th and sophomore
Maja Moland placed 35th in their national championship debuts.
The Eastern schools took four of the six individual podium spots on the day, with a pair of Utah Utes earning the other two positions. Dartmouth's John Steel Hagenbuch won the men's 7.5K classic while Vermont's Finn Sweet was second and Utah's Joe Davies was third. Erica Laven of UU took the top step for the women and was joined on the stage by Annie McColgan of Vermont in second and Jasmine Drolet of Dartmouth in third.
Host Dartmouth was the biggest mover of the day, recording 181 points in the two Nordic events to move into first place with 267.5 points. Colorado dropped to second with 262 points while Utah is third with 257 points. Vermont is fourth with 208 points and Denver 47 points back of the Catamounts in fifth (161) heading into the second half of this year's national meet.
UP NEXT: The NCAA Championships return to Dartmouth Skiway on Friday for the final day of alpine races with the giant slalom events. This year's national championships conclude on Saturday with the Nordic 20K freestyle mass start at Oak Hill Outdoor Center.
