VAIL, Colo. – The U.S. Alpine National Championships returned to Colorado this year, and the Denver Pioneers ski team was well-represented and had a strong finish at Vail Ski Resort.
 
Four current or alumni skiers placed in the top five in women's slalom on the final day on April 1, with 2022 Olympian Katie Hensien placing second and reigning NCAA national champion Sara Rask in third place. Junior Mia Hunt placed fourth, and freshman Stella Buchheister came in fifth but also finished as the top U20 junior skier in the field.
 
Hensien added another top-five result in fourth in giant slalom on March 31, while sophomore Liv Moritz placed fifth overall in women's GS and was second on the junior podium. Moritz also raced in super G on March 30, coming in 10th.
 
Graduate student Loic Chable was the top Pioneer in men's super G in fourth and also led DU's men's contingent in giant slalom in 12th.
 
Alum and former NCAA and U.S. National Champion Jett Seymour placed fourth in men's slalom, climbing up two spots after being sixth following run 1.
 
Tristan Lane was the other Denver alum racing at this year's American national championships, competing in super G (16th) and giant slalom (DNF).
