Casali on vault – Rotation 2 (rotating with Missouri)
Mundell on bars – Rotation 3 (rotating with Missouri)
The trio booked their spots to Fort Worth based on their performances in the NCAA Second Round on April 3. Results from both second-round sessions are combined, and the gymnasts from the advancing teams (during the NCAA Regional Final) are removed from the individual standings. The top remaining gymnast on each of the four events and in the all-around advance as individual qualifiers to the NCAA National Championships
Ulrich placed third overall in the all-around with a career-high 39.575, finishing behind Utah's Avery Neff (39.650) and UCLA's Jordan Chiles (39.600).
Casali tied atop the regional podium on vault with a season-high 9.950, becoming an NCAA Regional champion for the first time. Joining her on the podium were also Utah's Neff and UCLA's Chiles.
Mundell finished in a 15-way tie for second overall on bars with a 9.900, behind only Utah's Grace McCallum (10.000). The DU graduate student earned the nationals berth by way of three-step tiebreaker (first tiebreak: average of all four judges' scores; second tiebreak: chief judge's score; third tiebreak: NQS).
With this year's selections, Denver has now had at least one gymnast qualify for the NCAA National Championships in 24 of the last 25 years that the tournament has been held (excluding the canceled 2020 postseason).
Casali, Mundell and Ulrich are the 19
th, 20
th and 21
st individual national qualifiers in Denver's Division I history. They are the first DU individual qualifiers since
Abbie Thompson in 2022 on beam, though Thompson was unable to compete due to injury. The trio are seeking to join
Lynnzee Brown (floor, 2019) and
Nina McGee (floor, 2016) as individual national champions from Denver. McGee also won her NCAA title as an individual all-around specialist and did so as the outright national champion.
Casali is the second Denver gymnast to qualify individually on vault (also:
Casey Dobyns in 2004 and 2006), and Mundell is the first in program history to do so on bars.
Ulrich becomes the 16
th DU gymnast to advance in the all-around, joining a list of Denver Gymnastics legends that includes Brown (2018, 2021), McGee (2015, 2016) and
Jessica Lopez (2009), among others. She is he first DU underclassman to advance in the all-around since Brown did so as a freshman in 2018. Among other Denver freshman and sophomores to compete as individual all-around specialists is
Moriah Martin, who qualified as a sophomore in 2012, her first of three consecutive all-around appearances.
This will be the first time competing at NCAA Nationals for Mundell – who was injured during DU's appearance in 2023 – and Ulrich. Casali competed on vault, bars and floor when Denver advanced to NCAA Nationals as a team in 2023 and earned WCGA Postseason All-American status on bars.
As a team, unseeded Denver narrowly missed a berth to NCAA Nationals after placing third at the Utah Regional in Salt Lake City, scoring a 197.350 in the NCAA Regional Final. No. 4 seed Utah (197.825) and No. 5 seed UCLA (197.625) advanced out of the Utah Regional.
DU secured its spot in the NCAA Regional Final after upsetting No. 13 Stanford in the second round and tying for first overall with host Utah with a 197.650. Denver added a second upset win during NCAA Regionals, defeating No. 10-ranked Minnesota (196.825) in the NCAA Regional Final on April 5.
