DENVER – Twelve University of Denver gymnasts earned spots on the 2025 Academic All-Big 12 Team, the Big 12 Conference announced on Tuesday.
Denver's 12 Academic All-Big 12 honorees is the most in a single season in program history, topping the previous record of nine set in each of the previous three seasons. It also the most academic all-conference nods in DU Gymnastics history, finishing ahead of the 11 awards earned in 2015 as a member of the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference.

The Academic All-Big 12 Team consists of student-athletes who have maintained a GPA of at least 3.20, either cumulative or over the previous two academic periods, while also participating in at least 20 percent of the team's competitions. Seniors who have participated for at least two years and meet all criteria except the participation rate are also eligible. Freshmen and first-year transfer student-athletes are not eligible.
Denver's 12 honorees were the second most in the Big 12 Conference for gymnastics, ranking behind only Arizona's 14 (with a roster of 19 compared to DU's roster of 15).
Mabanta, Mundell and Thompson led the way, earning their fourth Academic All-Big 12 awards – finishing their careers after doing so in every season that they were eligible. Iwai also maxed out her career with a third honor in three years of eligibility.
Brusch, Hebinck and Rorich collected the second academic all-conference nods of their careers while Cooley, Gallen, Hargraves, Reidenbach and Ulrich all did so for the first time.
