Black and Spence Invited to Team Canada Selection Camp for Women’s Sixes Worlds

The final selection camp will take place June 6-8 in St. Catharines, Ontario

DENVER – University of Denver women's lacrosse graduating senior Lauren Black and newly named assistant coach Lauren Spence have been selected as two of 40 athletes that will attend next weekend's final selection camp for the Canadian Women's Sixes National Team ahead of the 2025 World Championships in Chengdu, China.

The final selection camp will take place in St. Catharines, Ontario from June 6-8. This summer's World Sixes will take place August 7-11 in China. Canada has been selected in Pool A alongside host China, Great Britain and Japan.

Canada is the reigning gold medalists in the event, having claimed the inaugural world championship in 2022. Black and Spence both played in the 2022 World Games.

Black led Denver with 76 points on 55 goals and 21 assists in 2025, earning Inside Lacrosse Media All-America honors earlier this month. The British Columbia native recorded multi-goal games against every nationally-ranked opponent the Pioneers faced this season, including a five-goal performance in Denver's upset win over then-No. 10 Michigan.

The senior's 55 goals are good for 11th most in a single season in program history and her 14 free position goals are good for a tie for sixth most by a Pioneer in a single season. Black earned her fourth-consecutive All-BIG EAST recognition after being named BIG EAST Attacker of the Year and to the All-Tournament Team.

Spence was hired to the women's lacrosse staff last week after completing a decorated career in-between the pipes for the Loyola Greyhounds. The Colorado native was a three-time IWLCA All-Mid Atlantic selection and a two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year.

The new Denver assistant posted a 5-0 record in the 2022 World Games with an 8.2 goals against average and a .564 save percentage en-route to the gold.
