Denver Travels Down I-25 for Into the Blue Invitational

The Denver Volleyball team is set for matches against Air Force, Utah Tech and Northern Colorado this weekend in Colorado Springs

DENVER -- The University of Denver women's volleyball team is set to travel to Colorado Springs for the Into the Blue Invitational hosted by Air Force this weekend. 

The Pioneers take on host Air Force on Thursday at 6 p.m. MT, Utah Tech on Friday at 4 p.m. MT and Northern Colorado on Saturday at 3 p.m. MT.

THE LAST TIME OUT
• The Pioneers went 1-2 in the Buffs Invitational, including win over SEC opponent Arkansas
Jamia Johnson recorded nine or more kills in all three matches and hit .355 against the Razorbacks

SCOUTING REPORT: AIR FORCE
• The Falcons started the season 8-1, including a 3-0 sweep of ACC opponent Wake Forest. The win marks the fi rst time AF has ever swept a P4 team.
•The 6-0 start for Air Force doubles its win total from 2024 and the best record to start a season under head coach Macey Donathan.

SCOUTING REPORT: UTAH TECH
•Utah Tech starts the season 7-2, with wins over UNLV and Weber State.
•The Blazers return Kennedi Knudsen who tied the single season record of 395 kills a year ago and her 3.99 kills/s last season is tied for the highest amongst returners in the WAC.

SCOUTING REPORT: NORTHERN COLORADO
•The Bears were picked to finish second in th Big Sky conference after earning the regular season title a year ago.
•UNC returns Preseason All-Conference selections in Isabel Bennett and Alayna Tessena. Bennet led the conference in hitting percentage last season, hitting .371 and Tessena averaged 2.71 kills per set during the 2024 campaign

THE PENDERGAST ERA
•The Pioneers earned their first SEC win in 17 years and first P4 win under Pendergast on 9/13/25 with a 3-2 win over Arkansas.
•Three Pios earned All-Summit League honors in 2024: Cassie Davis, Molly Mirabelli and All-Freshman selection Jamia Johnson.
• In her first season at the helm, Pendergast led the Pioneers to a 12-4 record in conference play, earning a share of the Summit League regular season title, the first since 2020.
•DU was a perfect 9-0 in Hamilton Gymnasium, Denver's first perfect record at home since the 2015 season (18-0).
• Megan Pendergast was named the eighth head coach of the DU Volleyball program on June 12, 2023.
• Spent eight seasons as an assistant coach with UCLA (3), Oklahoma (1) and Tulsa (4).
