MONT-TREMBLANT/SAINT-SAUVEUR, Quebec – The Denver Pioneers ski team's alpine group took part in the second round of the 2026 FIS Nor-Am Cup races last week in Quebec, Canada, at Mont-Tremblant and Sommet Saint-Sauveur Resorts.
The men and women raced at different locations, but both took part in two slalom and two giant slalom events across four days from Monday to Thursday. The GS races were held at Mont-Tremblant and slalom was at Sommet Saint-Sauveur.
Current Denver skiers and Pioneer alumni combined for 18 top-15 results, nine top-10s and placed in the top five four times in the eight total races last week. Among the DU alums that raced were
Cooper Cornelius, Simon Fournier, Storm Klomhaus, Eleri Smart and
Galena Wardle.
Alum and Quebec native
Fournier had a strong showing on home snow with three top-10 results, placing fifth and ninth in the two slaloms and tying for second with DU senior
Adrian Minde Hunshammer in the second GS race on Thursday.
Hunshammer's runner-up performance was the best finish of his career in a North American Cup event. It was his second podium of the Pioneers' 2025-26 race season after coming in third in GS on Dec. 17 in the Holiday Classic in Aspen.
Senior
Mia Hunt was Denver's top women's performer in three of the four races and placed in the top 15 in each of the four events. She picked up a pair of top-10s in slalom by coming in fifth and seventh and finished 12th and 15th overall in the two giant slalom races to start the week.
Three Denver skiers did not race last week in seniors
Sara Rask, Josephine Trueblood and
Eirik Kveno.
There are two more rounds of the Nor-Am Cup this season with events in Whiteface, New York, and Bromont, Quebec in early February and the finals in Aspen in late March.
The collegiate season for the alpine squad gets underway on Monday with the Denver Invitational's slalom at Loveland Ski Area. The Colorado Invite's slalom race will also be held at Loveland on Tuesday before the alpine portion of the two meets conclude on Wednesday and Thursday with giant slalom events at Aspen Highlands.
