Denver Gymnastics Claims No. 12 National Ranking

DU enters Road to Nationals rankings following season’s first full week of competition

DENVER – The University of Denver gymnastics team is ranked No. 12 in the Week 2 Road to Nationals rankings, which were released on Monday.

Though rankings were released in Week 1, this week marks the first full week of competition for NCAA women's gymnastics with most teams – including Denver – competing for the first time.

Denver scored a 196.575 in its season opener on January 11, earning a one-tenth win over Stanford in Magness Arena. Because neither DU nor Stanford competed in Week 1, neither held an official national ranking at the time of the meet, though both appeared in the WCGA Preseason Coaches' Poll (Denver at No. 16, Stanford at No. 13).

TEAM NATIONAL RANKINGS
Overall: No. 12 (196.575 average)
Vault: tie-No. 13 (49.100)
Bars: tie-No. 23 (49.000)
Beam: No. 14 (49.050)
Floor: tie-No. 3 (49.425)

DU's 196.575 against Stanford became the program's sixth highest season-opening score. Its floor mark of 49.425 is now DU's highest score in a season opener on the event in program history, and its 49.100 on vault tied the fourth highest such score.

DU has now been ranked inside the top 12 nationally following its first meet of the season in 10 consecutive seasons.

Denver has now started three of the last five years with a top-five national ranking on floor with its No. 3 spot this year.

INDIVIDUAL NATIONAL RANKINGS
Senior Cecilia Cooley
Floor: No. 1 (9.975)

Freshman Shyla Bhatia
Vault: tie-No. 2 (9.925)

Junior Maddison Reidenbach
All-Around: tie-No. 19 (39.275)

Cooley has posted the highest floor score in the country so far with her near-perfect 9.975 on Sunday, placing her in the No. 1 spot early in the season. It is her third time appearing in the floor national rankings and the first since Week 3 of the 2025 season.

Bhatia equaled the DU program record for highest vault score by a freshman in her first collegiate meet with her 9.925 in the season opener, tying her for second nationally so far. She joins Lynnzee Brown in achieving a top-two national ranking on vault after her DU freshman debut.

Reidenbach made the first all-around appearance of her collegiate career, tallying a 39.275 against Stanford to tie for No. 19 nationally. It is the second time she has held an individual national ranking after tying for No. 15 on vault after Week 1 in 2025.

No. 12 Denver heads on the road for its second meet of the year, traveling to No. 25 Texas Woman's for a tri meet with Arizona on Friday, January 16.
