Location Change for Denver Invitational Nordic Races

Pioneers-hosted Nordic meet on Feb. 7-8 now taking place at Frisco Nordic Center

DENVER – University of Denver skiing announced today a change of venue for the cross country races for next week's 2026 DU Invitational.

The Denver Invite will continue to be held on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 7-8, but the event will now take place at the Frisco Nordic Center in Frisco, Colorado.  Due to recent snow conditions at Maloit Park in Minturn, it was no longer feasible to hold the races in the Vail Valley. The weekend's competition also doubles as a junior national qualifier for area skiers.

Team Summit is joining Denver in putting on the Nordic meet, which begins on Saturday, Feb. 7 with the 10-kilometer classical mass start at 10 a.m. MT. The DU Invitational concludes on Sunday, Feb. 8 with the 7.5K freestyle interval start, beginning at 9 a.m. MT.

Space along the course is limited, but spectators are welcome to watch and cheer on the Pioneers and the other collegiate skiers from the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association around the start and finish areas near the ballfield.

The 2026 collegiate season began earlier this month with the RMISA Invitational at the U.S. Cross Country National Championships in Lake Placid, New York, on Jan. 4-9, and the teams had their second round of races last weekend at Soldier Hollow for the Utah Invite.

The alpine portion of the Denver Invitational was held on Jan. 12-14 at Loveland Ski Area and Aspen Highlands. The Pioneers are currently in second place in their own meet but are just 37 points off the lead.
