Maira Carreau Named to 2026 West All-Region Team

DENVER – Senior captain Maira Carreau of the University of Denver women's triathlon team has been named to the 2026 West All-Region Team by the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association.

The La Prairie, Quebec, native earned her 10th podium of her career and second of the season on Sunday by placing third at the Western Regional Championships at Marine Creek Reservoir in Fort Worth, Texas.

Carreau clocked in with a total time of one hour and three minutes and 16.87 seconds. She was seventh out of the water following the 750-meter swim (10:19) and used the sixth-fastest bike split in the 20-kilometer ride (33:58) to remain in the lead pack. Her 5K run was third-fastest in the race at 17:33 and she finished just 10.43 seconds behind winner Kelly Wetteland of Arizona.

This his Carreau's four career All-Region award, as she's picked up the accolade in each season with the Pioneers. Overall, this is the eight time that Denver has had an athlete earn regionals honors.

Joining Carreau on the West All-Region Team were three triathletes from Arizona (Kelly Wetteland, Molly Lakustiak, Ruth Pardy), two from Arizona State (Sidney Clement, Alex Campbell) and one from host Texas Christian (Julia Visgueiro).

Carreau and the Pioneers conclude their 2026 season on Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Collegiate National Championships in Tempe, Arizona, at Tempe Town Lake.
