DENVER – Due to snow conditions, the 2026 NCAA Championships will be relocated from Bozeman, Montana, to Utah, with alpine events taking place at Utah Olympic Park in Park City and the Nordic races held at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in Midway. Additionally, the Nordic events for the 2026 RMISA Championships that are set to begin next week in Montana have also been moved to Solider Hollow.
"The NCAA Championships are the premier event of the year for our skiing student-athletes, and while we are unable to compete in Montana as we had planned, the skiing committee is very appreciative for all the efforts that Montana State University has made to prepare for a successful championship," said Jim Dwyer, NCAA committee chair and director of skiing and head coach of Alpine skiing at Dartmouth. "The unprecedented lack of snow has forced the championships to Utah, where we are confident that we will have the championship event that we have become accustomed to having. I want to thank both Montana State and the University of Utah for their efforts as we navigate this change of venue."
The Utes last served as the host of the National Collegiate Skiing Championships in 2022. The move does not affect a previous and separate announcement that Utah will host the 2028 NCAA Championships.
The lack of snow at the Nordic venue, Crosscut Mountain Sports Center, ultimately forced the move for both the conference and national championship meets. The RMISA Championship alpine events will still be held at Bridger Bowl Ski Area in Bozeman, and Montana State will still be the host institution for the conference meet.
Dates of both meets and the sequence of events presently remain unchanged. The RMISA Championships are set for Feb. 26-28 and the NCAA Championships for March 11-14.
Denver's Nordic squad raced at Soldier Hollow earlier this season for the Utah Invitational on Jan. 24-25 and the alpine group is set to wrap up the UU Invite starting Sunday with the final regular-season races of the campaign.
Montana State was set to host the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2020 when the meet was ultimately cancelled halfway through due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
