McLellan Improves on 100 Fly School Record; Denver Maintains Leads

The Pioneers won 10 more events on Friday night in Iowa City

IOWA CITY – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs continued to turn in impressive swims and maintain their leads through three of four nights at the 2026 Summit League Championships Friday inside the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.

How it Happened:
Night three in Iowa City opened up with freshman Julia Saxman winning her second individual title of the weekend, adding Friday's 100 fly to her 50 free title with a time of 52.86. Isa Cardenas also earned a spot on the podium, taking third in a time of 54.90.
 
Sophomore Hamish McLellan already held the school record in the men's 100 fly, and he made it 0.39 seconds harder to catch it with his 46.53 in the A-Final of the 100 fly on Friday to take his first event title of the week.
 
Distance swimmer Sabrina Rachjaibun added the 400 IM to her 500 free win from last night, clocking in at 4:14.97 on Friday to earn a spot on the top step. Mina Ada Solaker was right behind her teammate with a time of 4:19.27, and Lilly Zippel made it a Denver podium sweep with her time of 4:21.38. Genevieve Franklin finished sixth in the A-Final, dropping nearly four seconds off her prelim time with a 4:25.50.
 
The Denver men took four of the top spots in the men's 400 IM, led by an event title for Nico Morton with his time of 3:49.45. Noah Laird took third in 3:54.34, Ian O'Neil took fifth in 3:56.92 and Cota Clise finished seventh with a time of 3:59.85.
 
Samantha Synsvoll picked up her second event title in as many days with a 1:48.33 in the women's 200 fly to earn the top spot. Izzy Burton took eighth in 1:52.47. In the B-Final, Paige Reilly brought home points for the Pioneers, taking 13th overall in 1:53.46.
 
Denver's young talent continued to shine when Pierce Bickerton claimed the men's 200 free with a time of 1:37.69. Dylan Mes finished right behind his teammate with a time of 1:37.90. Kurt Owens and Joe Hancock also swam in Friday's A-Final, taking sixth (1:39.16) and seventh (1:39.37), respectively. Finn Holdredge earned Denver points out of the B-Final, clocking in at 1:39.80 to finish 10th overall.
 
The Pioneers continued their stretch of podium appearances when Tenaya Winter finished third in the women's 100 breast with a time of 1:02.24. Peyton Mullowney clocked in at 1:02.95 to take sixth.
 
Junior transfer Kito Campbell came the closest to earning an automatic qualifying spot to the NCAA's, finishing just 0.03 seconds off an auto spot in the men's 100 breast, winning the Summit League title with a time of 52.61.
 
Senior Ali Beay got herself in the winners circle with a time of 54.42 in the women's 100 back. Darian Koler earned a podium spot of her own, finishing in 54.71 to take third. Maria DelMonte earned B-Final points with her 14th place overall finish in 57.96.
 
On the men's side in the 100 back, Quinn Collins finished the A-Final in 48.31 to take fourth. Max Roslin won the B-Final in 49.06 and Liam Simmons recorded a 49.43 to finish in 12th position.
 
Friday's action shifted to the diving well in the men's 3-meter. Sophomore Colin Breuer turned in a personal-best score of 335.00 to take the league title Freshman Trip Gregory took fourth with a score of 305.40 and Dakotah Parker finished sixth with a combined score of 295.80.
 
Back to the competition pool for the 400 medley relays. The quartet of Beay, Winter, Saxman and Cardenas won the women's A-Final with a time of 3:40.34. Collins, Campbell, McLellan and Matija Pantic grabbed second in 3:10.08.
