IOWA CITY – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs got off to strong starts in the first scoring session of the 2026 Summit League Championships on Wednesday night inside the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center at the University of Iowa.

How it Happened
Denver opened Wednesday night's finals session with a win in the 200 medley relay as the quartet of
Ali Beay,
Tenaya Winter,
Julia Saxman and
Isa Cardenas combined for a time of 1:39.18 to take the top spot. The Pioneer men opened their meet with a second place finish in the relay, when
Liam Simmons,
Kito Campbell,
Hamish McLellan and
Matija Pantic turned in a time of 1:26.63.
Shifting to diving, Denver's men earned a pair of podium places in the one-meter dive on Wednesday evening. Freshman
Trip Gregory finished second with a score of 316.85 and
Dakotah Parker received a score of 305.90 to take third. Gregory and Parker's scores were both NCAA Zone Cuts.
Back to the racing pool, the two teams competed in the 800 free relays. Winter,
Samantha Synsvoll,
Izzy Burton and
Sabrina Rachjaibun got Denver right back in the win column in the women's race with their time of 7:17.72. The quartet took nearly eight seconds off their personal best time this season. Pantic,
Kurt Owens, Pierce Bickerton and
Dylan Mes dropped nearly seven seconds off their best time of the year, getting the Denver men on the top step of the podium for the first time at the 2026 championships with a time of 6:31.84.
The night closed with the women's team diving event.
Savanna Berry,
Tatum Brasfield and
Kaitlin Calvery combined for a score of 263.05 to take the event title.
