PARK CITY, Utah – The Denver Pioneers ski team begins three days of alpine racing on Sunday with the start of the Utah Invitational at Utah Olympic Park.
Giant slalom events takes the snow for the first two days, with Sunday's race serving as part of the Utes-hosted meet while Tuesday's GS will be a RMISA Alpine Qualifier, giving the skiers an additional opportunity to qualify for the 2026 NCAA Championships. The UU Invite concludes on Tuesday with slalom.
Races each day begin at 9 a.m. MT, and live results will be available at https://livetiming.usskiandsnowboard.org/.
For the Pioneers and the rest of the alpine teams, they will be competing for the first time in nearly three weeks after taking part in the Nevada Invitational and two RMISA Alpine Qualifiers in Lake Tahoe from Jan. 31-Feb. 3.
The Utah Invitational began on Jan. 24-25 with Nordic events at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in nearby Midway. The Pioneers are presently fourth in the meet with 253 points and trail third-place Montana State by just five points.
This week's races at Olympic Park will be a preview of sorts for Denver and the rest of the RMISA squads for the NCAA Championships, as it was announced last week that the national collegiate skiing championship on March 11-14 are being relocated to Utah due to current snow conditions in Bozeman, Montana.
The Utah Invite will be the final regular-season meet on the schedule, as the RMISA Championships and NCAA West Regional Championship start on Thursday and runs through Saturday in Bozeman (alpine) and Soldier Hollow (Nordic).
