DU opens Summit League play on February 28, closes seven-match road trip at Minnesota on March 1

DENVER – The No. 49-ranked University of Denver women's tennis team (6-4, 0-0 Summit) will finish up a seven-match road trip with two duals in the state of Minnesota on February 28 and March 1.

DU first heads to St. Thomas on Saturday, February 28, at 3 p.m. CT/2 p.m. MT to start its Summit League schedule before playing at Minnesota on Sunday, March 1, at 11 a.m. CT/10 a.m. MT

LAST TIME OUT:
Denver played three matches in two days as part of the Red Blue Invite hosted by Arizona on February 20-21 and opened the weekend with an upset in come-from-behind fashion against host and then-No. 40 Arizona. DU rallied from a 0-2 deficit and took a 3-2 lead before Arizona drew level at 3-3. Freshman Yunfei Cai clinched the win at No. 6 singles, coming back from a set down.

DU came up against two more tough opponents to finish the tournament, falling to Oregon (1-4) and to then-No. 11 Arizona State (0-4). The team's win against Arizona and performances for the entire weekend help elevate DU's national ranking by 12 spots up to No. 49.

SUMMIT LEAGUE PREVIEW:
Saturday's match at St. Thomas will be both teams' Summit League opener. In the 2026 Summit League Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll, Denver was voted as the favorite to win this year's league title while St. Thomas came in at No. 5.

DU has won 11 consecutive Summit League titles and is a perfect 73-0 in league matches since Denver joined the Summit League in 2012-13.

This will be DU's final season in the Summit League. The University of Denver will join the West Coast Conference beginning on July 1, 2026.

SERIES HISTORY:
St. Thomas: This will be the fifth meeting between Denver and St. Thomas with DU capturing wins in the first four meetings, each with identical 7-0 sweeps. The teams have only ever met during regular-season Summit League play. This will be DU's second trip to UST and the first since March 5, 2023.

Minnesota: Denver and Minnesota are tied up at 3-3 in their head-to-head record, though DU owns wins in the last two meetings. They last played one another on March 3, 2024, also at Minnesota in a tight 4-3 win for Denver. Four of the team's six previous meetings came between 2003 and 2007.
