DENVER – University of Denver gymnast
Megan Aamold was named the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week for the fourth week of the season, the conference announced on Tuesday.
The Denver freshman made her third appearance in DU's beam lineup – her first three routines since a season-ending injury in 2024 – and improved her personal-best score once more on her way to winning the first collegiate title of her career. Her 9.875 in the team's February 1 meet against Iowa State also tied for the second highest beam score by an DU gymnast so far this year.
Her score counted toward Denver's 196.525 win against the Cyclones in the team's Big 12 Conference home opener, a score that was just a half tenth from DU's season high.
This is Aamold's first Big 12 Conference award and DU's second weekly conference award of the season, joining fellow freshman
Shyla Bhatia 's Newcomer of the Week nod following the first full week of the season on January 14.
The No. 18-ranked University of Denver gymnastics team heads back on the road as it continues its Big 12 Conference schedule with a trip to Arizona State on Saturday, February 7.
