DENVER – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming programs wrapped up the opening night of the 2026 CSCAA National Invitational Championships at the FAST Facility in Ocala, Florida.
Freshman Julia Saxman earned the women's program's second ever individual win at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships, joining Annelyse Tuller's performance in the 500 in 2018.
Sophomore Hamish McLellan also earned a podium finish to lead the Pioneer men on Thursday night.
Thursday Night Event Wins:
Women's 50 Fly – Julia Saxman – 23.69
How it Happened:
Junior Sabrina Rachjaibun dropped 3.28 seconds off her 500 free prelims time to take 14th in the women's distance race with a time of 4:50.44. On the men's side, freshman Pierce Bickerton picked up three spots from prelims to finals and dropped more than three seconds off his time as well, taking fourth on Thursday night with a time of 4:25.59.
Freshman Julia Saxman recorded her first CSCAA National Invitational Championships event win by taking the top spot in the women's 50 fly with her time of 23.69.
Sophomore Hamish McLellan earned the Denver men their first podium place of the weekend, taking third in the men's 50 fly with his time of 21.11.
Nico Morton swam his first individual event of the weekend, taking 15th in the 200 IM finals on Thursday with his time of 1:49.82.
Junior Kito Campbell grabbed 17th in the 50 breast with a time of 25.27. McLellan rounded out the night of individual performances with an 11th place finish in the men's 50 free, improving on his time from Thursday morning by more than a tenth of a secure a 20.19 on Thursday night.
