INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Denver women's lacrosse team earned a 14-2 win over the Butler Bulldogs on Saturday morning in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead off back-to-back goals from
Ryan Dineen and
Olivia Ripple to give Denver a 4-0 lead after the first frame.
Ripple continued to anchor the Pioneers' offense, tallying her third and fourth of the day. Both
Karleigh Mutch and
Caroline Keil tacked on a pair of goals each and
Dakota Riggio tallied her third goal of the season to give Denver an 11-0 advantage at halftime.
Denver continued its momentum in the third quarter with goals from
Eva Thomsen-Marr and
Chelsea Cho. Butler found the back of the net late in the quarter but the Pioneers took a 13-1 advantage into the final quarter of play.
Ripple tallied her fifth of the day off the free position opportunity to secure 14-2 victory for the Pioneers.
KEY PERFORMANCES:
Olivia Ripple led the Pioneers offense with seven points on five goals and two assists. Keil, Mutch and Dineen each added a pair of goals.
On the defensive end,
Ava Welty and
Megan Klingenberg each had a trio of caused turnovers and Klingenberg added four ground balls.
Lexi Gwaku made four saves between the pipes and
Lauren Hall added two.
Both
Alex Dorr and Mutch earned four wins apiece in the draw circle.
