Denver Gymnast Kiley Rorich Earns Big 12 Event Specialist Nod

DU senior tied career high on floor in first routine of season, despite music malfunction
DENVER – University of Denver gymnast Kiley Rorich was named the Big 12 Conference Event Specialist of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Rorich made her season debut on floor during DU's March 1 meet against Utah and equaled her career high of 9.900 – made all the more impressive given that her floor music stopped midway through her routine. Shortly after she finished her first tumbling pass, the audio malfunctioned in the arena, leaving Rorich to finish her routine without her music. She did so with encouragement from her teammates, the crowd and even the Utah gymnasts, hitting her leaps and double pike to finish the routine with a smile on her face.
The Denver senior's score matched the team's highest of the rotation and contributed toward DU's final team score of 196.100.
This is Rorich's second career Big 12 weekly award and her first as the Event Specialist of the Week. She becomes the fifth Denver gymnast to earn weekly recognition from the Big 12 this season and the first as the event specialist.
The No. 23-ranked University of Denver gymnastics team competes twice in four days, starting with a tri meet at Air Force with San Jose State on Friday, March 6, at 7 p.m. MT. DU will then host Air Force for its final home meet of the 2026 season on Sunday, March 9, at 5:45 p.m. MT.
