No. 71 Denver Men’s Tennis Travels to New Mexico, Northern Arizona

DU continues six-match road trip at UNM on Friday, at NAU on Saturday

DENVER – The No. 71-ranked University of Denver men's tennis team (6-4, 0-0 Summit) hits the midway point of a six-match road trip when it visits New Mexico and Northern Arizona on March 6-7.

DU first travels to New Mexico on Friday, March 6, for an 11 a.m. MT match before closing the weekend at NAU on Saturday, March 7, at 5 p.m. MT.

Last Time Out:
Denver split results last weekend with two matches held in its home state of Colorado. DU began with its return to Denver Tennis Park after two weeks away, fighting hard with then-No. 57 BYU on February 27 before falling, 4-3, in a dual that came down to the final singles match.

DU rebounded with a 5-2 win at Air Force two days later, going ahead 3-1 after dropping the doubles point in a tiebreak in the No. 2 match. Wins from senior Raffaello Papajcik, freshman Aaron Beduhn and senior Ryoma Mishiro put Denver within a point of the dual before sophomore Theo Coats clinched it in a three-set battle.

Sophomore Samuel Rovai repeated as the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week after going 2-0 on the weekend, winning against BYU in straight sets before moving up to the No. 1 singles spot at Air Force and winning a third-set tiebreak.

Series History:
New Mexico: Denver and New Mexico will meet for the third consecutive year and the 11th time in the last 13 years. DU is 11-7 against UNM including back-to-back 4-3 wins in their last two meetings, extending Denver's win streak to five including in the Pioneers' last trip to New Mexico on March 10, 2024.

Northern Arizona: This will be the ninth meeting between DU and NAU with Denver holding a 6-2 record and wins in each of the last three matches. The teams met in Denver last season in what would be a 5-2 DU win. Denver's last trip to Northern Arizona was January 28, 2023, in which DU came away with a 4-3 win.

Up Next:
The University of Denver men's tennis team continues its road trip that will keep the Pioneers away from home for the entire month of March with a visit to Penn on Sunday, March 15.
