Denver Signs Wickström Stümer to 2026-27 Roster

Wickström Stümer helped Howard to the 2026 NJCAA DI Men’s Basketball National Championship this March

DENVER – The University of Denver men's basketball program has signed NJCAA DI Men's Basketball National Champion Oskar Wickström Stümer to its 2026-27 roster, head coach Tim Bergstraser announced on Friday.

In the national quarterfinals Wickström Stümer played 31 minutes and shot a perfect 3-for-3 from the field and 2-for-2 from the stripe. The Swedish forward played six minutes off the bench in the national title game.

Wickström Stümer averaged 20.7 minutes, 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in his 30 appearances of his freshman season for the national champions. The 6-8 forward scored in double figures twice, including a rookie season-high 12 in the Hawks win over New Mexico Highlands.

2025-26 (FRESHMAN AT HOWARD):

Won the JUCO DI National Championship…For his work in the classroom, named to the Howard College Presidential list…Played in 30 games and made 12 starts for the national champions…Averaged 20.7minutes, 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest…Shot 53.4% from the field…Scored nine points in the national quarterfinal win over Butler Community College. 

BEFORE HOWARD:
Played for the Swedish U-16, U-18 and U-20 national teams, winning the Nordic Championship in 2024… Named the top prospect of the year in the 2025 Swedish Basketball League. 

PERSONAL:
Chose the University of Denver because he felt that it was a great place with great people, and a good spot to continue his basketball career…Wants to play professional basketball after graduation…Brother Petter plays hockey for Maine…Also enjoys video games.
