Pioneers Sweep Air Force in Hamilton

DENVER – The University of Denver volleyball team swept Air Force on Wednesday night at Hamilton Gymnasium, earning a 25-20, 25-17, 27-25 victory to improve to 7-3 on the season.
LEADERS
Alicia Thibodeau led the Pioneers with 15 kills while hitting .406. Elise Hart added 11 kills on .625 hitting, while Jamia Johnson finished with 10 kills. Lily Van Hal and Ilayda Eren each recorded 22 assists, while Madison Winkler led Denver with 27 digs.
HIGHLIGHTS
Denver hit .278 as a team, recording 55 kills, five blocks and 59 digs. The Pioneers closed out the sweep with a 27-25 third-set victory after Air Force rallied from an 18-14 deficit to tie the set at 23-23. Denver answered with the final three points to secure the win.
STRONGEST SET
Denver posted its strongest offensive performance in the opening set, hitting .295 with 19 kills on 44 attempts. The Pioneers built an 18-12 advantage before Air Force rallied to pull within one at 20-19. Denver responded by scoring five of the final six points, including three straight kills from Thibodeau and two from Hart, to secure the 25-20 victory.

Denver improves to 7-3 on the season.
The Pioneers have now won six straight matches against Air Force.

The Pioneers travel to Greeley for two matches at the UNC Volleyball Invitational, facing Northern Colorado at 6 p.m. MT on Thursday before taking on Utah at 3 p.m. MT on Friday.
